Lending a helping hand with the Pay it Forward Programme
A little bit of kindness goes a long way.
Here at Pulse Energy, we’re staunch believers in giving back to our communities and do what we can to support local families.
This was the driving force behind the Pay it Forward Programme, a joint initiative between Pulse Energy and our customers, which provides financial support to households experiencing energy hardship.
Making a difference in our communities
The Pay it Forward Programme is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in our communities. Thanks to the generosity of our awesome customers, the Programme has already touched the lives of hundreds of New Zealanders, including Dunedin-based Amanda, a recent Programme recipient.
Amanda was “astonished” when we reached out to let her know that she would be receiving support with her upcoming power bill and said that she had no idea that the Programme even existed. But with her husband currently on unpaid sick leave, the support couldn’t have come at a better time.
“My husband is off work and not getting any sick pay,” explained Amanda. “I was really worried thinking about how we were going to afford to pay our power bill while we had no income. It was going to be tight. I have been trying to budget well so I can cover payments while he is off work recovering from his operation. Receiving the Pay it Forward contribution was such a big help and relieved the stress and worry I was feeling.”
As a big believer in the power of helping others, Amanda wanted to thank the contributors who make the Pay it Forward Programme possible.
“Thank you very very much. It has been such a big help at a very tough time. I give back to others when I can, and it was so nice to have something given to me for a change.”
About the Pay it Forward Programme
Under the Pay it Forward Programme, Pulse Energy customers can choose to add a small monthly contribution to their energy bill. These contributions are added to the Programme fund, which is then allocated to customers experiencing energy hardship. Pulse Energy committed to contributing $150,000 to the Pay it Forward Programme in the first year.
We’ve been blown away by the support the Programme has received, with thousands of Pulse Energy customers pitching in each month to support households facing energy hardship.
