Introducing the Pay it Forward Programme
Small acts of kindness are happening around us every day. Whether it’s helping carry someone’s groceries, jumpstarting the neighbour’s car or bringing a cup of coffee to a coworker, Kiwis are always ready and willing to lend a helping hand.
As a 100% community-owned electricity retailer, we’re firm believers in helping out in our communities and supporting local families. Recently, we reached out to some of our customers to get their feedback on how we could work collectively to support those experiencing energy hardship. Together, we came up with the Pay it Forward Programme.
What is the Pay it Forward Programme?
The Pay it Forward Programme is a joint initiative between Pulse Energy and our customers. It is designed to help some of our customers who are experiencing energy hardship.
The Programme is funded by contributions from our customers as well as Pulse Energy. To get the ball rolling, Pulse Energy has committed to contributing $150,000 to the Pay it Forward Programme in the first year.
This is how it works:
- All Pulse Energy customers can add a small monthly contribution to their energy bill. This can be from as little as $2 per month.
- Each month, your contribution is added to the Pay it Forward Programme.
- Contributions are then allocated to customers experiencing energy hardship.
- We provide regular updates about the total funds raised and allocated.
The Pay it Forward Programme launched on Thursday 30 April and already we have seen an amazing response from our customers, with many signing up to contribute.
How to contribute to the Pay it Forward Programme

You can cancel, pause and change your contribution amount at any time by emailing us at email@example.com. Changes will come into effect in your next billing cycle.
Who’s eligible to receive support from the Pay it Forward Programme?
The Pay it Forward Programme is designed to help Kiwi families who need our support. The funds we raise through the Programme will be allocated to Pulse Energy Alliance LP customers who are experiencing financial hardship as defined by certain criteria we have set.
There is no application for Pay it Forward funding. If you are finding it difficult to pay your energy bill, please contact us to discuss your options.
